M.M.Thein (Pathein Maung Maung Thein) was born in Pathein in 1938. Burmese artists have used the native town name in initial or ending of their name for easy to classify people has the same names. So he named himself “Pathein” Maung Maung Thein and has a umbrella symbol initial in his signature.
He studied art under Nyan Shein, A-1 Than Sein, Maung Maung Mya, Saya Myit, Thet Win, Tun Nyunt, San Win and U Kyi. He is full-time artist. He is devoted in art teaching and specialized in teaching art to children.
